Are you or someone you know getting engaged this Valentine’s Day? Are you giving your Valentine a watch or necklace to tell them how much they mean to you?
Every reason why you treasure a piece of fine jewelry is a reason you should insure it. However, calling it “jewelry insurance” may be a stretch. You don’t need a separate policy to insure your jewelry. You just need to ensure you have the right personal property coverage from your homeowners, condo, or renters insurance.

Most people have an idea of what’s covered and not covered under their various insurance policies. But at Berkshire Insurance Services, we get a lot of questions about borrowing or loaning a car and if Auto Insurance covers it.
You might be thinking about borrowing your neighbor’s truck for a home-improvement project. Or maybe a friend has asked to borrow your car while hers is in the shop. You should understand the implications if one of those borrowed vehicles is involved in an automobile accident. New car shopping can be a lot of fun, especially if you’re a car enthusiast. But others can find the experience stressful and tiring. Either way, there’s a lot to think about. According to a survey of car shoppers, overall purchase price is the most important factor when shopping for a new car (46 percent), followed by make and model (31 percent).
Safety and performance come in a distant third, tied at seven percent. But whether you’re turned on or turned off by the dizzying types of car choices, trim options, “expert” reviews, incentives and other deals, it definitely pays to approach new car buying strategically. When it comes to auto insurance, you have a choice to purchase Combined Single Limits (CSL) or a Split Limit liability policy. Which one offers better coverage?
Combined Single Limit Liability Coverage (CSL) It’s that time of year here in southeastern Pennsylvania! The leaves are turning brilliant shades of yellows, reds, and oranges, days are getting shorter, and the evenings are getting colder. It’s the perfect time to sit around a fire pit with friends and family and enjoy the changing season – unless, of course, that fire blazes a little too much.
While a fire pit can be an excellent addition to your home, all fires are potentially dangerous. According to NBC News, “…at least 5,300 injuries related to fire pits or outdoor heaters were treated at emergency rooms in the U.S. in 2017…” A quarter of those injuries were children under the age of five, and many were the result of abandoned coals that were still hot. It’s summer – prime RV season here in southeastern Pennsylvania. But, even if you know where you want to go, do you know how to get there?
After all, driving an RV is a little different than simply hopping in your car, so we here at Berkshire Insurance Services put together some tips to help you plan your route and enjoy your trip. Insurance Marketing often involves genius thinking! From humor to company mascots like lizards, pigs and ducks…we often enjoy being entertained by company advertising. I know I do. But sometimes insurance marketing flirts with deception by moving consumers to think something is “special” when most companies offer the same thing. In other words, the company just wants you to think of their “feature” more favorably. Why? So that you’re influenced to buy from them and not the competition. This could be “New Car Replacement”, “Accident Forgiveness”, “diminishing deductibles”, “Only Buy the Coverage You Need”, etc.
April is tax season. It’s a time many people are thinking about their finances. But if you’re like most people, you’re probably thinking in the short term. What’s my refund going to be—or how much do I owe? And what is that going to do to my monthly budget?
It’s good to be thinking about those things. It’s also important to look at the bigger picture. Financial Literacy Month, which is also in April, gives you a perfect chance to do just that. Welcome to our new insurance agency blog! This is our very first post.
